East Coast Diesel offer specialist zone 2 equipment for operation in hazardous areas.

Zone 2 engines require additional modifications to comply with Class I Division 2 (NEC500), Class I Zone II (NEC505) – ATEX Directive (94/9/EC) Zone II hazardous locations with category 3G (Zone 2), gas group IIA, T3 (200 degree C) temperature class certification.

Some of the required components include water cooled turbo and exhaust system, temperature sensors linked to shutdown systems, air inlet shutdown valves, flame arresters and spark arrester on the exhaust system. These modifications prevent any internal explosions caused by reaction to the external atmosphere.
